 MAYHEM, die Influencer (wie man heute sagen würde) des Black Metal, kündigen eine neue EP “Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando” an. Die Scheibe der Norweger wird am 9.7.2021 via Century Media Records veröffentlicht.
Für die EP hat man sich auf Bands fokussiert welche MAYHEM in ihrem Schaffen beeinflusst haben. So hat man Coverversionen von Bands wie DISCHARGE, DEAD KENNEDYS, RUDIMENTARY PENI und RAMONES in der typischen MAAYHEM Manier aufgenommen. Außerdem wurden BILLY MESSIAH und MANIAC für zwei der Songs als Sänger eingeladen.
Zusätzlich zu den Coverversionen hat die Band mit “Voces Ab Alta” einen bisher unveröffentlichten Song mit am Start. Dazu wurden die Songs “Black Glass Communion” und “Everlasting Dying Flame”, welche als Bonus bei dem 2019 Album “Daemon” dabei waren, mit auf die EP gepackt.
Das visuelle Konzept kommt von dem italienischen Designer Daniele Valeriani (Lucifer’s Child, Dark Funeral). Diese hatte bereits das Artwork zum Album “Daemon” gestaltet.
Die Band kommentiert:
» I always had some punk influences,” says Attila. “I guess it comes from my childhood when we were constantly looking for more extreme music. That’s how I discovered Dead Kennedys, GBH, The Exploited, Sex Pistols, U.K. Subs, Discharge, Rudimentary Peni and so on, in the early 80’s, alongside heavy metal. But then I discovered Venom, that was a game changer! «
Necrobutcher:
» We got some extra time in the studio recording the Daemon album two years ago, all band members were asked to punch in two cover tracks for some extra material. I chose songs by Deathstrike (The Truth) and Death (Evil Dead) which were both used as the bonus tracks on the album. My other contribution was to bring in two old members because of their obvious connection with punk: Maniac on the Dead Kennedys track and Billy (Messiah) on the Discharge track and some of the others. «

 Besucht mit Necrobutcher und Teloch von MAYHEM im Video das legendäre "Henhouse" in dem die Band 1988 ihren Proberaum eingerichtet hatte.
Am 9.7.2021 veröffentlichen Mayhem im übrigen ihre “Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando“ EP.
