Die Rock Apostel traten 2011 erstmals mit der Single "Surrender" ans Licht und wurden schnell zu einer wichtigen Stimme im britischen Metal Underground. Seitdem hat man Stück für Stück weiter am charakteristischen Sound gearbeitet der in den heroischen Tagen vergangener Zeiten verwurzelt ist und von Langzeitproduzent Ed Turner veredelt wurde. Dies klangliche Alchemie überträgt sich auch auf "V: Lamentations" und überzeugt mit noch mehr Kreativität als die vorangegangenen Meisterwerke Prelude, II: Sojourn, III: Pentecost und IV: Sacrament.
"Ed is a huge part of what we're doing," kommentiert Wytch Hazel's Mastermind Colin Hendra. "He's added so many more details, there's more to pick up on multiple listens. Ed's been key in bringing these songs to life; what he brings to the table is fantastic and unique and exactly what we need. Ed finishes my musical sentences with his production."
Der erste Einblick in 'V: Lamentations' heisst "Woven": "On "Woven", in particular, you can hear us locking in and playing off each other in the room" gibt Hendra zu Protokoll. “I really wanted to write a heavy rock song about sensitivity and gentleness which you don’t hear too much of really. There's this section where it goes quiet after the lyrics "be sensitive" then a big guitar solo comes in where I try my best to shred and let it all loose”.
