Mit viel Tamtam melden sich Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth) und Matt Barlow (Ex-Iced Earth) zurück und verkünden ihr gemeinsames Projekt "Schaffer / Barlow Project".Dies wäre im Prinzip eine gute Nachricht, denn ich persönlich finde, dass Matt Barlow der bisher beste Sänger von Iced Earth war.
Aber wie verkündet wurde, wollen die beiden eine EP mit 7 Songs aufnehmen wobei 5 davon Weihnachtsklassiker sein sollen und die zwei weiteren Iced Earth Songs.
Songs auf der Scheibe sind unter anderen "Silent Night" und "Little Drummer Boy" als auch neue Interpretationen der Iced Earth Klassiker "Watching Over Me" und "I Died For You". Die EP soll den passenden Namen "Winter Nights" tragen.
"Winter Nights" wird es in unterschiedlichen Versionen ab 15.11.2020 auf Kickstarter geben und jede CD wird als Bonus einen 5.1 Surround Sound Mix der EP erhalten. Das Artwork stammt von Sun Khamunaki.

Jon Schaffer » Matt and I have spoken about such a project through the years, and the time was right to make it a reality. I hope people dig it because we had a hell of a lot of fun doing it, and the listeners can always feel that in the final product. I’m not sure how silent your winter nights will be once you get your copy, but I’m certain you’ll be feeling that holiday spirit in a very unique way this coming season.
