From UK, after almost decades, emerge DECREPID to continue where the big ones left, to fill the void which in the last decade or so was occupied by worthy bands like DESECRATION, INFESTATION, MITHRAS and GOREROTTED. The darker and more brutal ones came out recently, be it CRUCIAMENTUM or PORKFARM, but it's only now that a worthy successor steps up, and waves the flag of the good old UK death metal mark. Crushing, resounding and just invincibly powerful, these are the traits of this kind of death metal. Parallels can be found in the US death metal scene (MONSTROSITY, CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE) and to an extent even the Dutch ones (SINISTER, HOUWITSER, ALTAR) but these days it's not as good. Not until now. DECREPID come and release an album that's just overwhelming. It's got classic brutality with somewhat modern sensibilities and delivery. It's brutal but not your guttural kind. It's heavier than most death metal out there but it also has that desired and elemental substance and integrity. Bands like these rise ostensibly for a special purpose. This one is out to reclaim the fading glory. UK death metal is back.
