HM-2 pedal in full splendor? Check. Relentless downtuned riffage? Check. Paolo Girardi's grotesque-yet-magnificent artwork? Check. Death fucking metal the Swedish way from the Czech Republic? Check indeed! Brutally Deceased are back with Satanic Corpse, their third release under the Doomentia banner. Formed in 2007, the group was devoid of compromise ever since, and two years after Black Infernal Vortex, they have lost none of their crushing power.
As soon as the chainsaw guitars of the opening salvo "The Art of Dying" kick in, these dudes once again show that there is far more than meets the eye and that Brutally Deceased are not just another retro band playing it as if the world had stopped turning since the release of Left Hand Path. Utilizing filthy-yet-articulate distortion, furious blastbeats, and solid songwriting, these guys are able to do the job on their own.
Anyway, worshipers of the classic acts of the genre should be on their guard, too. Not only those twin-guitar harmonies in "At One with the Dead" will make all the Dismember (and Iron Maiden) fans beg for more. If you are into honest and unforgiving death metal, 30 minutes of Satanic Corpse is one hell of a ride! Cover and tracklisting are as follows:
