Die finnischen Doom Metaller SWALLOW THE SUN nennen ihr neues Album "Emerald Forest And The Blackbird". Das mittlerweile 5. Album der Band wird am 01.02.2012 via Spinefarm Records veröffentlicht. Das Artwork steuert wieder Rami Mursula bei.Anette Olzon von NIGHTWISH gibt einen Gastauftritt bei dem Song "Cathedral Walls", außerdem ist Aleah Stanbridge von TREES OF ETERNITY bei zwei Songs mit von der Partie.

Hooded Menace haben sich mit einem zweiten Gitarristen verstärkt.We´re excited and proud to announce that Teemu Hannonen (formerly Phlegethon) joins Hooded Menace as a 2nd guitarist! Finally our live sound will be richer and heavier as it should be! Also it´s very cool to have an old band mate of mine in Hooded Menace!

Hammerband!!! Wohl mit das beste, dass der Death-/Doom Sektor derzeit zu bieten hat, dagegen stinkt sogar Disma ein bisschen ab!

Hab gerade die LP "Deviated Instinct - Guttural Breath" hier liegen.Muss sagen dass die Jungs 1989 schon feinen Heavy Doom gespielt haben. Da ist alles drin, von 70er Heavy Rock über leicht crustige Riffs bis knarzigen Doom.

Die aus Uppsala, Schweden stammenden Doom Metaller Anguish haben den Song "Lair of the Gods" von ihrem Debutalbum "Through The Archdemons Head" auf TheObelisk.net Online gestellt. HIER gehts zum Stream !"Through The Archdemons Head" wird über Dark Descent Records im Februar veröffentlicht, das Album ist der Nachfolger zum 2010er Demo "Dawn Of Doom"

Das Artwork des kommenden AHAB-Scheibchens "The Giant" ist nun bekannt und kann oben in Augenschein genommen werden. Gestaltet wurd es von dem Künstler Sebastian Jerke (LONG DISTANCE CALLING). Erscheinen soll "The Giant" im Mai 2012 bei Napalm Records.

Erscheinen wird die Scheibe bereits im Juni 2012 bei Napalm Records. Via Solitude Productions erscheint am 16.04.2012 das neue Album von Obsidian Sea.
Obsidian Sea ist eine junge bulgarische Band die sich stark an den traditionellen Doom Metal Wurzeln orientiert und somit was für Fans von klassischem Epic Doom ist. Durch den kraftvollen Sound könnte das Album aber auch was für Doom Death Jünger sein.

Die Berliner Doom/Black Metaller ESSENZ haben ihr zweites Album fertiggestellt. Der Nachfolger von "KVIITIIVZ – Beschwörung des Unaussprechlichen" wird auf den Namen "Mundus Numen" hören und am 23. Mai via Svart Records veröffentlicht. Um euch schon ein bisschen auf das Album einzustimmen hat die Band einen Trailer gebastelt, den ihr hier sehen/hören:

Finnish death / doom dealers HOODED MENACE recently announced their signing to Relapse Records and have now completed work on their first album for the label. The highly anticipated 'Effigies of Evil' was recorded at the band's own Horrisound Studios and is planned for a Summer 2012 release.

Die französischen Funeral Doom Metaller von MONOLITHE haben die Aufnahme zu ihrem dritten Album "Monolithe III" abgeschlossen und werden es in nächster Zeit via Debemur Morti Productions veröffentlichen. Die Band, in welcher unter anderem auch Vindsval von BLUT AUS NORD aktiv ist, hat auch schon das Cover-Artwork veröffentlicht.

Italy’s very own TOMBSTONE HIGHWAY is the newest member of the Agonia Records roster and a fresh addition to the label’s expanding profile. The band emerges from the muddy shores of The Po River in Piacenza and draws strong inspiration from the rural and folklore parts of its homeland. Their upcoming debut album is a classic blend of feisty Stoner/Southern Rock and Doom Metal, with catchy guitar solos and old-school heavy metal parts that may remind of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Corrison Of Conformity, Pride and Glory, Down, Black Sabbath, or even ZZ Top riffage. Die schwedischen Doom-Metal-Ikonen WITCHCRAFT haben das Artwork des kommenden albums „Legend“ enthüllt. „Legend“ ist das erste Album der Band nach einer langen Pause von fünf Jahren.Sänger/Bandkopf Magnus Pelander kommentiert: „A friend of mine had an idea about a cover for „Legend“. I developed the idea and gave it back to my friend who then passed it on to another friend who happened to be a designer. The designer then pushed it in a new direction. The result is already legendary.“
Basser Ola Henriksson fügt hinzu: „The album cover is meant to reflect the music and I think it does that with its heavy, dark & clean design.“

We’re extremely pleased to announce that Asphyx will be playing a special set of their slowest death / doom (only throwing in a couple buzzing, diabolical tracks for good measure) at the Roadburn Festival 2013 on Saturday, April 20th at Het Patronaat in Tilburg, Holland.
Formed back in 1987, The Netherland’s very own Asphyx quickly established themselves at the cutting edge of the burgeoning death metal scene by way of releasing two immortal classics, The Rack (1991) and The Last One On Earth (1992). Well known for their absolute no-frills, authentic approach, the band’s massive slab of death/doom revolves around the legendary insane death roar of Martin van Drunen, underpinned by raw, crushing riffs and pounding doomy grooves swathed in an ominous atmosphere.
After the genre’s implosion back in the mid 90′s, Asphyx disbanded only to rise again for an unbelievably successful reunion show as headlining act at 2007’s Party.San festival in Germany. Further live shows followed, as legions of underground supporters were yearning for a proper comeback. With the release of 2009′s Death… The Brutal Way, the interest in ‘these living legends of old school death metal’ was bigger than back in the early 90′s when they carved the band moniker deep into the annals of death metal history.
By releasing 2012′s stunning Deathhammer (Century Media), the band is keeping traditional death metal as true, honest and thrilling as ever. However, especially for Roadburn Festival 2013, Asphyx will put emphasis on their most epic, crushing material, played with guts and balls, and which will guarantee pure death / doom rapture. KADAVAR beim Yeah Yeah Festival in Hinzweiler (bei Kaiserslautern) am 03.11.2012
Diese Band ist ein Biest. Ein raues, ungehobeltes, vor Energie nur so strotzendes Biest. Diese Band will dich! Und sie kriegt dich! KADAVAR – 70ies Hardrock von einem anderen Stern.
Das Schlagzeug wird mit einer Inbrunst bearbeitet die Ihresgleichen sucht. Gitarre und Bass treffen, perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt, den Zuhörer als übermächtiges Klanggewitter direkt ins Mark! Ein wahnsinniger Hall auf dem gedoppelten Gesang verleiht dem Ganzen so viel Nachdruck, dass man sich ob der Wucht, die einem entgegenschlägt in völliger Demut verliert und sich wünscht es würde niemals aufhören. Mehr Black Sabbath, mehr Hawkwind, mehr Led Zeppelin (…) mehr Authentizität geht nicht.
Die internationale Musikpresse überschlägt sich mit Lobeshymnen auf drei Männer aus Berlin mit Namen Lindemann, Mammut und Tiger genannt KADAVAR!!! Noch bevor das erste Album überhaupt erschienen ist, war die auf 700 Exemplare limitierte erste Auflage bereits restlos ausverkauft. Nach einer ersten kleineren Tour im Frühjahr dieses Jahres geben KADAVAR am 03. November einen zum Besten.
2012 findet das Yeah Yeah Festival zum letzten Mal statt.

Nach dem Erfolg von SAINT VITUS’ letztem Album “Lillie: F-65” wird Season of Mist zwei Studioalben der US Doom Legende neu auflegen, und zwar “C.O.D.”(1993) und “Die Healing”(1995).
Beide Alben werden noch mit Bonusmaterial aufgewertet und Anfang 2013 erscheinen.
After the success of SAINT VITUS’ latest album “Lillie: F-65”, Season of Mist will re-release the US Doom legend’s previous two studio albums, namely 1993’s “C.O.D.” and 1995’s “Die Healing”.
The remastered reissues of those two sold-out, hard to find Doom landmarks will include bonus material and are set to hit the stores in the first half of 2013.

KONGH haben das Coverartwork für ihr kommendes Album "Sole Creation" vorgestellt. Das Album soll am 5 Februar 2013 erscheinen.
"Sole Creation" ist das dritte Album des schwedischen Doom Trios. Auf 45 Minuten verteilt wird es 4 neue Stücke zu hören geben, als Gast konnte man John Doe(Craft) gewinnen. Das Album wurde im Teknikkompaniet Studio im schwedischen Vetlanda von Peter Lundin aufgenommen, Mixing und Mastering übernahm dann Magnus Lindberg von Cult Of Luna. KONGH's Frontmann David Johansson:
"After a very long time of hard work, this album is finally ready for release. We couldn't be more happy with the way it turned out and I really think it is the best Kongh material so far. For our old fans, I am pretty sure it will be well worth the wait and I also think it holds great potential to satisfy a bunch of new listeners. In my opinion, the album is more dynamic and has much more emphasis on melodies than our previous works. At the same time it maintains the harshness and it's undoubtedly the heaviest slab of metal we've done as well."

Die Doomster MONOLITHE aus Frankreich haben die Arbeiten zu ihrem neuen Album namens "Monolithe IV" abgeschlossen. Das Album besteht aus einem einzigen Song !!! und dieser ist 57 Minuten lang. Dementsprechend kurz fällt auch die Tracklist des Albums aus Das Album soll im letzten Quartal 2013 via Debemur Morti Productions erscheinen.
In der Zwischenzeit könnt ihr euch die Zeit mit am streamen des kompletten letzten Albums "Monolithe III" vertreiben oder ihr kauft das Album als Digipack. Hier... geht's zum Stream.

Sweden's premiere doomsters KONGH will re-release their critically acclaimed, grammy-nominated in homeland debut album "Counting Heartbeats". The album, containing over 50 minutes of additional playing time in comparison with the original version, is set to be released on the 24th of September worldwide via Agonia Records.

The re-released "Counting Heartbeats" will feature two bonuses, never released on CD before: the split LP with Ocean Chief and the "demo 2006" - band's first ever recording. The band is currently working on a new European tour.

Passend zur Jahreszeit gibt es allerfeinsten finnischen Death/Doom von Kuolemanlaakso produziert von Tryptikon Gitarrist V.Santura. Das neue Album "Tulijoutsen" wird am 28.2.2014 via Svart Records veröffentlicht.Auf ihrem neuesten Werk gibt erneut der Doom die Marschrichtung an, wird aber mit allerhand weiteren gesanglichen, melodiösen und melancholischen Variationen versehen.
Inspiriert von der besonderen Stimmung der finnischen Wälder, Seen und der frühen Poesie und Folklore des 19.Jahrhunderts, zog sich die Band in den Wald zurück, um das Album dort aufzunehmen. Textlich sowie musikalisch konnte so die optimale Umgebung für „Toulijousten“ (The Fire Swan) entstehen.

AEONSGATE is a Doom project and it may become a cult.
The first record called “Pentalpha” is a one hour long song that tells a sad, romantic and very heavy -doomy story of someone's first minutes of death. It was recorded at Inception Studios in different parts of the world (L.A., Stockholm, Barcelona...) and produced, mixed and mastered by Billy Anderson at SharkBite Studios (Oakland, Ca). The release is set for October 24th, 2014 through Germany's THE CHURCH WITHIN RECORDS ( < http://www.doom-dealer.de > ).
AEONSGATE is the brainchild of Jondix (guitar player and founder of Great Coven, EIght Hands for Kali and Ätman-Acron). This time he is surrounded by amazing musicians. Mats Leven (Krux, Malmsteen, Therion, Candlemass,...) is the singer and his agonic and beautiful voice makes the song as sad and dark as you can get. Joseph Diaz is the mysterious bass player who played before with the likes of Graham Bonnet, Bobby Martin,...) And finally Marco Minneman (Kreator, Necrophagist, Steven Wilson,...) on drums playing in a trance inducing sabbathic progressive way strange in this musical genre. This doom opera song mixes 70's, neoclassical and oriental elements and will be remembered as 2014 Doom's ultimate epitome.
A lot of doom cliches and full of surprises, this record will change you forever...

After a successful debut album “Unkindness…” Adfail, a Gothic Doom Metal band from Kaliningrad, Russia, are back with another full-length entitled “Is It a Game?”. Stylistically it continues the line of its precursor, but the quality of the music leaves no doubt that two years were not in vain for the band. This time Adfail have prepared a little less than an hour of diverse stuff: mid-tempo dynamic tracks are followed by atmospheric compositions, while the vocal varies from the extreme one to clean male and female singing. Another feature of the release is the use of viola which perfectly fits the sound of Adfail.

Die atmosphärischen Doomer SECRETS OF THE SKY aus Oakland sind jüngst bei Metal Blade untergekommen und veröffentlichen ihr heißersehntes zweites Album im Mai. "Pathway" ist der bleierne Nachfolger des gefeierten 2013er Albums "To Sail Black Waters" und wurde klanglich von Juan Urteaga betreut, der es in den Trident Studios mit der Band produzierte, mischte und gemastert hat. Ihm zufolge stehen SECRETS OF THE SKY gerade im vollen Saft."Pathway" zeigt Garett Gazay als monströsen Growler und strahlenden Clean-Sänger, eine perfekte Ergänzung zu den Gitarren von Andrew Green und Clayton Bartholomew. Bassist Ryan Healy und Drummer Lance Lea vervollständigen die Besetzung; ihr Spiel kommt den Soundscapes entgegen und bereichert sie dank unverkennbar eigener Handschrift. Im Ergebnis steht ein ambitioniertes Konzeptwerk voller emotionaler Musik mit zahlreichen Aufs und Abs. Klar ist es ein Metal-Album, am Ende aber auch und vor allem allgemeingültige Musik. Genaugenommen entstanden alle Stücke in der gleichen Reihenfolge, wie sie nun auf der Scheibe erscheinen. Unser Debüt endete mit einer einzelnen Gitarrenlinie, die langsam ausklang, und jetzt läutet dieses Motiv die neue Scheibe zu Beginn von 'Three Swords' ein. Der Song ist nur ein Teil des gesamten Puzzles, das Pathway darstellt. Wir finden, dieses Album macht einen runderen, dynamischeren Eindruck als unsere früheren Arbeiten.«

Avatarium aus Schweden, gegründet von Leif Edling, bringen am 23. Oktober ihr neues Album „Girl with the Raven Mask“ auf den Markt. Das 2013er Debütalbum gefällt mir nach wie vor sehr, auch finde ich, dass die genrefremde (und genau das tut mal richtig gut) Sängerin Jennie-Ann Smith nicht nur eine verdammt geile Stimme hat, sondern auch sehr viel Charme besitzt - ihre Ansagen auf dem Rock Hard Festival 2015 waren jedenfalls einfach nur sympathisch. Der gleichnamige Opener vom kommenden Album haut mich aber bisher nicht vom Hocker:< https://youtu.be/nHiM5RHOwhk >
Recht schnell, das Teil, was noch nicht mal das Problem wäre (beispielsweise der Song „All I want“ von der 2014er EP ist auch nicht gerade langsam und Avatarium sind ja nicht nur reinem Doom verpflichtet), aber muss denn dieser affige Refrain „ Aaah ah, aah ah“ sein? Und überhaupt ist der Song schon ziemlich poppig.
Ich hoffe also sehr, dass der Rest vom Album besser ist.

Das aus Nottingham in England stammende Doom Trio Twilight's Embrace wird am 21.2.2018 ihre neue EP mit dem Namen "Penance" veröffentlichen. Die EP wird der Nachfolger des 2014er Debüt "By Darkness Undone" und wird von der Band selbst released.Die Band sagt zum Album: » After a couple of years that saw some members leaving and little in the way of live performances, we decided an EP was a good way to ease back into things and to let people know we're still alive, comments band leader and guitarist Ben Sizer. "Musically, the new tracks deliberately continue the path of previous releases, attempting to take classic doom-death recipes and add other influences to taste.
For Twilight's Embrace to cover a Paradise Lost song is a natural move, given the classic Peaceville act's obvious influence on the band. But by picking a softer song from the largely electronic album, there was both a greater opportunity to both put Twilight's Embrace's personal stamp on it, and maybe give fans a taste of what Paradise Lost might have sounded like in those days had they not gone so deeply into the lands of synthesisers.«
