QUOTE
Phobia has songs that take a step away from the usual songstructures we have. Trying out new ideas of approach... Written in blood, being one of them - for this one we got help from an old friend, Chris Barnes, to write the lyrics and name this song we had - him taking part in writing and performing in this song means a lot to us - hope you guys like it... and if you dig it, please consider buying it.

Haha gleichzeitig gepostet  :p  Habs dann wieder gelöscht.
Was solls wärd mir wahrscheinlich das Album orderern.

Beitrag von Runes In My Memory an 15.03.2013, 13:34
Phobia hingegen kesselt orderntlich! Schön back to the roots.. rau und dreckig!

Beitrag von The Lu 999 an 31.05.2013, 08:58

As some of You have noticed, we´ve not been too active during recent years. And when there´s really nothing to talk about, then there really isn´t a reason to open your mouth. If you are a songwriter, you will recognise there are periods in time when the creative flame is just not alive. It happens to everyone I believe. Before going into the subject of this post, i would like to say it looks like we will have new Torture Killer music out next year - more on this when the time is right. Now, here´s a story i get asked from time to time - today is a good day to write about it.

Today, the 6th of June 2018, Six Feet Under released a compilation of lost tracks titled as "Unburied".
The release contains a song that I wrote with Chris called "Midnight in Hell".

I was approached by Chris Barnes back in 2011 who asked if I would like to write a song for SFU - if they liked it, they would consider using it in their upcoming album. I will not go into the
history we have with Chris, but i will say he is the reason anybody knows who we are. We wrote and recorded the album "Swarm!" with him back in 2006 which gave us the publicity we would never reach on our own. Having someone like him coming to us and do a favour like that was unheard of. To get asked to write music for his main band is beyond that. Grateful and baffled, i decided to try. Eventually, I ended up writing music for four songs. Three of them, "Incision", "Inferno" and "Zombie blood curse" - which was selected as the first single for "Unborn" - ended up on the album. After sending out the first song (which i believe was "Incision" if my memory serves me correctly) i got a demoed version with vocals of the song the next day and absolutely loved it. Then i get asked to write another one..the same thing happens...and so it continued.

If you´ve heard the album, you will propably notice the wide variety of styles it contains. My approach was going for what I personally thought the Six Feet Under sound was, simple and straightforward with lots of room for vocal patterns. To have that groove I thought that made the band stand-out. I had no idea the band line-up was completely changed at that point. Rob Arnold, Ola Englund, Ben Savage, Steve Swanson...and then there´s me. A guy who works at the road construction
site paired with all these next level pro-musicians...how the hell did this happen? The result was a mixed bag for sure, none of the guys (i believe) knew what the other guys were doing - so that´s pretty much inevitable. Still, i am very happy how these three songs came out - Ola Englund tracked the guitars and Kevin Talley doing the drums made sure the quality of the production and performance was there.

I had one more song, written side-by-side with "Zombie blood curse" that eventually came out the title track of our 2013 album, "Phobia".

The unreleased song, "Midnight in Hell".

This was the second or third song out of the four that we wrote during that time period. It didn´t make it on the album, but somehow i always loved this the most. The swing, the flow of lyric and ferocity of the vocal delivery made me play it over and over after receiving it back in the mail. Some 3-4 weeks ago i mailed Chris and suggested we would record a version of this song with Torture Killer for our upcoming release and include his vocal track with it. The same kind of collaboration we did with "Written in Blood" - a song on our "Phobia" (2013) album. Chris wrote the lyrics for that song and delivered an explosive 2nd verse and i wanted to re-visit that...I felt the intensity of the vocal was just so one-of-a-kind, that we should have that out somehow. Even if nobody else would like it - i would. And it was just too good of a song just to forget about. That is when i heard about the release of "Unburied".

The version of this song is the actual demo version that was originally made. Sure, it pales in comparison to actual studio recording but i think the whole "lost tracks" release gives
an interesting in-sight how bands give birth to new music. It is demo´s like these that gets traded between the bandmembers when they write - they are rough, unrefined pieces of music that eventually turn into the versions you hear on the albums. Sometimes these early demo versions capture something that could be lost when tried to re-create in the studio, and this vocal performance could easily be one of them.

Take a listen, hope you guys enjoy it. Today is a good day.

MIDNIGHT IN HELL

ELECTROCUTION OF THE MIND
THE POWER FLOWS FROM WITHIN YOU
A PULSE, A RAPID HEARTBEAT-TAKES YOU
TO A BROKEN RHYTHM, END YOUR LIFE
YOU SEE A WHITE FLASH, A TUNNEL WITH NO ENDING
YOUR GOD, OR YOUR DEVIL, HAS NOW LEFT YOU IN THE COFFIN
A BURIED BODY IS A SHELL OF THE LIFE IT ONCE DREAMED OF
THERE WAS NO ENDING IN SIGHT
FOREVER THIS MIDNIGHT

PROTECT ME FROM THE UNKNOWN
PROTECT ME FROM THIS PAIN LORD
I WEEP AND BEG FORGIVENESS
PLEASE MAKE THE END OF LIFE PAINLESS

THE DEATH OF MANY MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE WITHIN MY SOUL
BY MY HATRED MY VICTIMS SUFFER AND RETURN TO HELL

EMPOWERED BY YOUR SCREAMING
THE PAIN , DEEP DOWN IN ME
THE LIFE I HAVE PROGRESSED INTO A HUMAN MONSTER ,YES
I THRIVE ON THE PAIN, THE KILLING, I LAUGH AS YOU ARE DYING
YOUR MURDER -NEVER ENDING, ETERNAL HORROR -BLEEDING!

THE DEATH OF MANY MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE WITHIN MY SOUL
BY MY HATRED MY VICTIMS SUFFER AND RETURN TO HELL

Finland’s notorious serial death-fiends strike back for the first time since 2013 with their new EP: Dead Inside - a gallows - end head stomper with more hooks than a cenobite in a meat locker. Torture Killer was formed in 2002 in Turku, Finland, with the goal of pursuing their passion for mid - paced, riff - driven, old - school influenced death metal. In the ensuing years, they’ve produced 4 full length albums and 2 EP’s, refined their craft and gained further recognition from their neck - breaking live performances. In 2022, they enter the void once more
with ‘Dead Inside’, the new 3 song EP which takes another step forward in their path of darkness, further solidifying their position in both the Finnish and global death metal undergrounds. Also features cover art by none other than Wes Benscoter! The current lineup remains concrete, consisting of Pessi Haltsonen (Vocals), Jari Laine (Guitars), Tuomas Karppinen (Guitars), Kim Torniainen (Bass) and Tuomo Latvala (Drums).

Vinyl/CD preorders coming June 28th
